Parental Permission Form

for your high school child to take the course
New Testament Greek as a Spiritual Discipline

I'm Gary Collier the developer and teacher of this LIVE online course numerous times over the past 10 years.

For the first time ever, we are inviting high school students to take this course, and to do so without cost.  The course was developed for adults, but this is an opportunity for high schoolers to step up and learn a few basics about the language in which the New Testament was written.

This is a win, win, win, win, win situation.  This helps with English basics, it shows how translation of the Bible works, and many more benefits.

We want to make sure we have parental consent for all participation of high school students.  Please read through the following items and e-sign in the form.

When you do this, you'll get an email asking you to confirm the email address.  If you don't receive this within 15 or 20 minutes, look in the spam folder.  It is important that you confirm that you received the email address.

I give my permission

for my high schooler to participate in the 10 week course, New Testament Greek as a Spiritual Discipline, administered through the Institute for the Art of Biblical Conversation.

I realize, understand, or accept the following things:

  1. There is no tuition for high school students to take this course, but the textbook is not provided and it can be ordered from places like Amazon.
  2. The class meets every week for 1 hour for 10 weeks on the internet. No travel!
  3. The teacher of the course (and perhaps one or two guests) will be visible by video and audio, but that students will only be be visible by name through a chat box.
  4. This course is about the biblical Greek language.
    1. It will focus on one main Bible verse: Matthew 13:52. (Other verses will be referred to in passing to illustrate examples of the Greek language.)
    2. It is not designed to teach specific doctrine.
    3. It does promote the value of spiritual disciplines in a Christian’s life.
  1. IABC does not represent (officially or otherwise) any particular church or denomination. It is an independent Christian 501(c)3 non-profit whose mission is to help Bible readers focus on the responsible handling of biblical texts.

“As the parent or guardian, I have been encouraged to review at least the following pages of the IABC website:"

  1. the “Course Description” page
  2. the “Statement of Faith” page
  3. the “Who Are We?” page of IABC
  4. and the “Teacher Profiles” page (especially for Gary D. Collier).

Please sign the form on the right (or on a cell phone, below).

As the parent (or guardian) you are free to observe the webcasts. If you would like to take the course yourself,
please register here.
